*Because wall construction and materials vary from home to home, the appropriate mounting hardware may need to be purchased from your local hardware store.
Place the mounting plate in the installation location and mark the wall through each of the mounting holes. If there is no mounting plate, use the holes in the back of the sink basin as your template.
Important: The sink should be anchored to two wall studs. Locate and mark the position of the wall studs to which you will fasten your sink by listening for a solid sound as you knock on the wall or by using a stud finder. If the studs in your bathroom do not line up to the mounting location for your sink, wood blocking can be installed between the studs using standard 2 x 4s.
Drill mounting holes for the anchor or lag bolts using the guides created in the previous step. If the wall is tiled, use a masonry drill bit.
Attach the new faucet and drain assembly to the sink.
Secure the mounting plate to the wall with the anchor bolts. If there is no mounting plate, attach the sink directly to the wall with the mounting hardware.
Connect the water supply and drain lines.
Note: Some wall-mount sinks include a trim piece to cover the plumbing lines. These typically attach directly to the wall framing with lag bolts.
When installation is complete, turn on the water supply to check for any leaking from the water supply lines or sink basin. To troubleshoot, tighten with pliers until leaking stops.
Generally, a wall mounted sink should be installed 30-36" from the floor to best accommodate the average adult height. The user(s) of the sink should be highly considered, however, with the sink likely needing adjusted for taller individuals and kids especially to ensure seamless usability.
P traps are required for all sinks in compliance with plumbing codes. By staying filled with water, they keep sewer gases from entering your home and prevent blockages.
Wall-mount sinks are the most efficient sinks for maximizing space. Attaching directly to the wall and leaving the floor space open below, wall-mount sinks are perfect for small bathrooms or anyone looking for that open look and feel.
A wall-mount sink is an ideal ADA-compliant option, with its floating silhouette perfect for seated users. To meet ADA-compliancy, ensure at least 34" of space is available beneath your sink for optimal use.
